Public Meeting - Drought Resilience Effort

  • Date: 05/21/2025 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Do you have ideas for strategies and projects to protect groundwater aquifers and mitigate flooding in the southern New Mexico Rio Grande valley?

The Doña Ana County Flood Commission has partnered with the Drought Resilience Effort (DRE) initiative to host four public comment meetings in May:

  • 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Main Auditorium of the Doña Ana Community College of Sunland Park, 3365 McNutt Road.
  • 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Hatch Community Center, 837 W. Hall St.
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Center for Spiritual Living, 575 N. Main St. in Las Cruces.
  • 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the Albert J. Lyon Event Center of the Sierra County Fairgrounds, 2953 S. Broadway St. in Truth or Consequences.

The DRE plans to implement projects that will reduce damage from flooding and sedimentation, promote aquifer recharge through stormwater management, improve infrastructure to manage water, and create and/or sustain habitat and promote watershed health.
